What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels work in much the same way. Some are necessary for a website to function, others measure how it is used, and others support third-party services.
Essential and functional storage
This website stores a small preference on your device to remember whether you chose light or dark mode. It is used only to make the site behave the way you asked and is not used to track you or shared with anyone.
Analytics and marketing cookies
With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics to understand which routes and articles riders find most useful. It records things like the pages you view, how long you stay, your device type and your approximate location (country or city). Your IP address is shortened before it is stored. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell the data.
Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are set. The cookies it uses (names starting with _ga) last up to 2 years. Your choice itself is saved in a small cookie called mal-cookie-consent for 6 months.
Newsletter sign-up form
The newsletter sign-up form is embedded from Beehiiv, our newsletter provider. Loading that form means your browser contacts Beehiiv’s servers, and Beehiiv may set its own cookies or similar storage to make the form work and to prevent abuse. Beehiiv’s own privacy and cookie information applies to that processing.
Affiliate and third-party links
Some pages link out to retailers, brands, maps, videos and social profiles. Affiliate partners, embedded media providers and other third parties may set their own cookies once you click a link or interact with their content, and their own privacy and cookie policies apply from that point. Where an affiliate programme requires tracking on this website itself, it will be named here before it goes live.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings, and blocking them will not stop you reading the articles, routes or GPX pages.
To change your choice on this site, reset your cookie settings and the banner will appear again.
